On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

This is not an easy read. It’s a bit like We’ve Got to Talk about Kevin in that the subject matter is so dark, you might have to take breaks getting through it. I did. On the other hand, it is so full of lines, images and well, use of language, that make your brain and heart explode, you’ll keep going. A sad, dark magnificent poem in the form of a story.

I listened to the audio version, with Vuong reading the work himself. I highly recommend this. I intend to re-listen right now, after finishing. It’s breathtaking.
